Before beginning build-out, what must a Cd One Price Cleaners franchisee submit to the franchisor?

Cd_One_Price_Cleaners Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Franchisee must submit to Franchisor for its approval all construction and remodeling plans and specifications before beginning build-out for the Store and all revised or "as built" plans and specifications as they are prepared during construction and development. Franchisor's review is limited to ensuring Franchisee's compliance with Franchisor's design requirements and Operating Standards. Franchisor's review is not designed to assess compliance with federal, state, or local laws and regulations (such as the ADA), as compliance with such laws is Franchisee's responsibility. Franchisee agrees to remedy, at its expense, any noncompliance or alleged noncompliance with such laws. Franchisee must develop the Store in accordance with the plans and specifications that Franchisor has approved. Franchisor may, but has no obligation to, periodically inspect the Store's site during its development.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Cd One Price Cleaners's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, before starting the build-out of their store, a franchisee must submit all construction and remodeling plans and specifications to Cd One Price Cleaners for approval. These plans must adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), local ordinances, building codes, permit requirements, and lease restrictions. Additionally, any revised plans created during construction must also be submitted for approval.

Cd One Price Cleaners's review of these plans is to ensure compliance with their design requirements and operating standards, but it does not assess compliance with laws and regulations like the ADA. The franchisee bears the responsibility for adhering to all applicable laws and must rectify any noncompliance issues at their own expense. The franchisee must develop the store according to the approved plans, and Cd One Price Cleaners has the option to inspect the site during development.

This requirement ensures that each Cd One Price Cleaners location aligns with the brand's standards and legal requirements. While Cd One Price Cleaners offers guidance through plan review, the franchisee ultimately carries the risk of ensuring full legal compliance, including ADA and local building codes. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, where franchisors set brand standards but franchisees are responsible for local compliance.
