What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Casiola's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must purchase System Supplies from specific sources. Casiola requires franchisees to maintain both initial and ongoing inventory of System Supplies. These System Supplies, as designated by Casiola, must be purchased from Casiola itself, its affiliates, or suppliers that Casiola has designated.
This requirement ensures that Casiola maintains control over the quality and consistency of the products used within its franchise system. By mandating specific suppliers, Casiola aims to uphold its brand standards and customer experience across all locations. This also allows Casiola to potentially benefit financially through supplier relationships, as they may receive rebates or other benefits based on franchisee purchases.
For a prospective franchisee, this means limited flexibility in sourcing System Supplies. Franchisees cannot choose their own suppliers, even if they find better prices or more favorable terms elsewhere. While this may reduce the administrative burden of supplier selection, it also means franchisees are dependent on Casiola's chosen suppliers and any potential price fluctuations or supply chain issues they may face. It is important to note that Casiola estimates that approximately 90% of the total purchases and leases in establishing the Franchised Business and approximately 20% of the on-going operating expenses of the Franchised Business will be spent with designated suppliers.
Before investing, prospective Casiola franchisees should carefully evaluate the list of designated suppliers, their pricing, and their reliability. Understanding the terms and conditions of these supplier relationships is crucial for assessing the overall profitability and operational efficiency of the franchise. Additionally, franchisees should inquire about the process for suggesting new suppliers or requesting exceptions to the mandated supplier list, although approval is not guaranteed.
