Does Casa De Corazon require a franchisee to be an owner-operator?

Although you do not need to be an owner-operator, you must be involved in the day-to-day operation of the Center and you must be the license holder as required by applicable state law. If you are an entity, your majority owner must be involved in the day-to-day operation of the Center and this individual or the entity may be the license holder, as permitted by applicable state law. If you are not going to be overseeing the Center on a full-time basis you must retain an Operations Manager to oversee the Center's Operations. Although no prior experience in operating a child care center is needed, we are looking for franchisees who have some management experience and a college degree. The Operations Manager and the Director of the Center must also have management experience, be Spanish/English bilingual and have a college degree. The Director of the Center will also need to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the Center.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Casa De Corazon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not required to be owner-operators. However, the FDD stipulates that franchisees must still be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the Casa De Corazon center. Additionally, the franchisee must hold the required license, as mandated by the applicable state law.
If the franchisee is a business entity, the majority owner must be involved in the center's daily operations. This individual or the entity itself can be the license holder, provided that state law permits it. If the franchisee will not be overseeing the center full-time, they must employ an Operations Manager to handle the center's operations.
While prior experience in operating a childcare center is not mandatory, Casa De Corazon seeks franchisees with some management experience and a college degree. The Operations Manager and the Center Director must also have management experience, be bilingual in Spanish and English, and hold a college degree. The Center Director is also required to be involved in the center's daily operations.
