What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a Primary Contact may serve as a Manager for the Shoppe under specific conditions. Carvel may, at its sole discretion, permit a Primary Contact to serve as a Manager, provided that it is their full-time job. Additionally, the Primary Contact must otherwise qualify for the position and successfully complete the Management Training Program.
This means that while Carvel does not require the franchisee or owners to participate in the daily operations, if they choose to do so as the Primary Contact and Manager, they must meet certain requirements. These requirements include dedicating themselves to the role full-time and completing the necessary training programs to Carvel's satisfaction.
This policy ensures that anyone in a management position is adequately trained and committed to the business. It also highlights Carvel's emphasis on having qualified individuals directly involved in the Shoppe's operations, even if the owner chooses to take on that role. Prospective franchisees should consider these requirements when planning their involvement in the day-to-day operations of the franchise.
