What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Carvel Franchise Disclosure Document, Carvel will send representatives to the franchised business for on-site training at their expense under specific conditions. If a franchisee is opening their first or second Carvel franchise (including franchises owned by affiliates and including any Carvel, Cinnabon, or Cinnabon Swirl franchises), Carvel will send one or more representatives to the location. This on-site training will last for a minimum of two days and will occur concurrently with the beginning of operations.

This is a notable benefit for new Carvel franchisees, as it provides direct support and training during the critical initial phase of operations. The inclusion of affiliated businesses and other related brands like Cinnabon and Cinnabon Swirl in the count of existing franchises means that even experienced franchisees in those systems may qualify for this free on-site training when opening their first Carvel location.

However, it's important to note that this free on-site training is limited to a franchisee's first or second location. After that, franchisees may need to pay a fee for additional on-site training. Carvel may also require franchisees to obtain on-site training at any time, including before or after the opening date, or if the franchisee fails to comply with the System and Standards. In these cases, Carvel may charge a fee for the training, as well as require reimbursement for travel and living expenses.
