Carvel Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

If any of your Required Trainees have previously attended and successfully completed our Management Training Program and you or they have not defaulted under any other franchise agreement with us, we may, in our sole discretion, determine that such Required Trainee is not required to attend the Management Training Program again or will be required to attend a modified Management Training Program.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Carvel may waive the Management Training Program for Required Trainees under specific conditions. If any of the Required Trainees have previously attended and successfully completed the Management Training Program and neither they nor the franchisee are in default under any other franchise agreement with Carvel, Carvel may determine that the Required Trainee does not need to attend the training again. In this case, Carvel may also require the trainee to attend a modified version of the Management Training Program instead of the full program.

This waiver is at Carvel's sole discretion, meaning a franchisee cannot automatically assume a trainee is exempt. Carvel retains the right to decide whether the prior training is sufficient or if additional training is necessary. This ensures that all managers, even those with prior experience, meet Carvel's current standards and are up-to-date with any changes to the system.

For a prospective Carvel franchisee, this means that if they or their managers have prior Carvel training, they should inquire with Carvel about the possibility of a training waiver or modified program. This could save time and potentially reduce training costs. However, franchisees should be prepared for the possibility that Carvel will still require the full training program to ensure consistency and compliance across all franchise locations.
