What training must Carvel Managers complete to the franchisor's satisfaction?
Carvel Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
All of your Managers must successfully complete our initial management training program (the "Management Training Program")
We may require employees that transfer to your Franchised Business from another Business to successfully complete the Management Training Program again.
We also may require you to send or resend your Managers (as defined below) or employees to the Management Training Program, and require them to successfully complete it, if we have identified operational or performance issues at your Franchised Business.
To be designated as a Certified Training Manager, a Manager must (a) complete our Management Training Program at least six months before applying for certification, (b) maintain specific food safety programs, (c) attend any required additional training program, and (d) meet other qualifications that we may specify from time to time.
We may require Certified Management Trainers to be recertified if they transfer from one Shoppe to another, if they no longer meet our then-current requirements, or annually.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, all managers must successfully complete the Management Training Program to the franchisor's satisfaction. This program is required for all managers before they become involved in the operation of the Carvel Shoppe. Furthermore, Carvel may require managers to attend the Management Training Program again if they identify operational or performance issues at the franchised business.
Carvel has the right to determine whether a trainee has successfully completed the Management Training Program. If a required trainee fails to complete the program successfully, they must re-enroll in the next scheduled Management Training Program. If, after the initial program and re-enrollment, none of the required trainees successfully complete the program, Carvel reserves the right to terminate the Franchise Agreement.
Additionally, to become a Certified Training Manager, a manager must complete the Management Training Program at least six months before applying for certification, maintain specific food safety programs, attend any required additional training programs, and meet other qualifications that Carvel may specify. Carvel may also require managers to be recertified if they transfer from one Shoppe to another, no longer meet the current requirements, or annually. This ensures that managers are continuously updated on Carvel's standards and practices.
