What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Subsequent Trainees are defined as any Managers, Primary Contacts, or Directors of Operations hired or appointed after the opening of the franchised business, or any other persons Carvel designates. Carvel franchisees are obligated to ensure these Subsequent Trainees attend and successfully complete the Management Training Program (or a modified version prescribed by Carvel) before they become involved in the operation of the Carvel franchised business.

Carvel may also require employees transferring from another business to the franchisee's Carvel location to successfully complete the Management Training Program again. Additionally, Carvel retains the right to mandate that existing managers or employees attend and successfully complete the Management Training Program if operational or performance issues are identified at the franchised business.

Franchisees are responsible for paying a training fee for each Subsequent Trainee attending the Management Training Program. The current fee is $250 per trainee per day and may be increased annually, but no more than the Allowed Adjustment. This ensures that all personnel involved in the operation of the Carvel franchise meet Carvel's standards and are properly trained, even after the initial opening of the business.
