What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Franchisee Disclosure Acknowledgement is not applicable in several states with franchise disclosure laws. Specifically, the offer or sale of a Carvel franchise is not subject to the Franchisee Disclosure Acknowledgement in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin.
This means that if you are purchasing a Carvel franchise in one of these states, you will not be required to complete the Franchisee Disclosure Acknowledgement. This acknowledgement is used to verify that the franchisee has not received any unauthorized or misleading information and that they understand the limitations on claims related to the franchise.
It is important to note that if the Carvel franchise is to be operated in, or the franchisee is a resident of, Maryland, the acknowledgement should also not be signed. This highlights the importance of understanding the specific franchise laws and regulations in the state where you plan to operate a Carvel franchise.
