What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Carvel has the discretion to require the Primary Contact to complete a modified version of the Management Training Program. This is contingent on the Primary Contact not being involved in the day-to-day operations of the franchised business. The purpose of this training is to ensure that even those not directly managing the business on a daily basis have a foundational understanding of Carvel's operational standards and practices.
This requirement ensures that even if the Primary Contact is primarily an investor or has other business responsibilities, they are still knowledgeable about the Carvel system. This can be beneficial for oversight and strategic decision-making related to the franchise. However, it also means the Primary Contact must allocate time and resources to complete the training, even if they are not directly managing the store.
Prospective franchisees should clarify with Carvel what the "limited version" of the Management Training Program entails in terms of time commitment, content, and cost. Understanding the scope of this requirement will help the franchisee plan accordingly and ensure the Primary Contact can fulfill this obligation. It is also important to note that if the Primary Contact will be involved in the day-to-day operation of the Franchised Business, they may be required to complete the full Management Training Program.
