What are the potential consequences of failing to comply with the franchisor's training requirements for a Carvel franchise as described in Item 11?
Carvel Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
If you fail to cancel any scheduled training without at least 14 days' prior notice, or if your trainees are not prepared to successfully participate in any scheduled training, we may charge you a cancellation fee and the cost of conducting the originally scheduled training (including any training fees and any travel and living expenses incurred by our representatives) and require you to pay an additional fee for the rescheduled training.
We may charge a reasonable fee (which we expect typically to range from $0 to $2,500) for these additional programs to cover our costs of providing them.
What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, failure to adhere to scheduled training or inadequate preparation for training can result in financial penalties. Specifically, if a franchisee fails to cancel scheduled training with at least 14 days' notice, Carvel may impose a cancellation fee. Additionally, the franchisee may be responsible for covering the costs associated with the originally scheduled training, including training fees and any travel and living expenses incurred by Carvel's representatives.
Furthermore, the franchisee will be required to pay an additional fee for the rescheduled training. This highlights the importance of proper planning and preparation for the mandatory training programs.
Carvel also emphasizes the importance of ongoing training and may require personnel to undergo further training as a condition of renewing the Franchise Agreement. The franchisor may conduct additional training sessions, and the franchisee's Primary Contact, Managers, Owners, and supervisory personnel must attend any specified conferences, conventions, programs, or additional training sessions. These additional programs may incur a reasonable fee, typically ranging from $0 to $2,500, to cover Carvel's costs of providing them.
