te of your Shoppe.
There is no charge for the cost of the Management Training Program for your Required Trainees for your first two Shoppes (including Shoppes owned by your affiliates). If we provide the Management Training Program to you for your third or subsequent Shoppes (including Shoppes operated by your affiliates), you must pay us a fee of $3,000 ($5,000 for Co-Branded Shoppes and $1,000 for Express Shoppes) for the Management Training Program. You must pay us a reasonable training fee that we designate (currently, $250 per trainee per day) if (i) you elect, and we permit you, to bring additional trainees, other than the Required Trainees, to the Management Training Program, (ii) your Required Trainees are trained in separate sessions, or (iii) any of your Required Trainees fail to successfully complete the Management Training Program and re-enroll in the program or are replaced with new trainees that enroll in the program.
Your Required Trainees must successfully complete our Management Training Program at least one week prior to the scheduled opening date of the Shoppe. If your opening date changes and your required Trainees completed our Management Training Program more than 120 days before the revised opening date, we may require them to attend up to an additional week of training and may require you to pay our then-current daily training fee for each Required Trainee.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee elects to bring additional trainees, beyond the required trainees, to the Management Training Program and Carvel permits it, the franchisee must pay a training fee. This fee is currently $250 per trainee per day. This same fee applies if the required trainees are trained in separate sessions, or if any required trainees fail to complete the program successfully and re-enroll or are replaced with new trainees.
This fee covers the cost of training these additional personnel. It is important to note that this fee is in addition to the costs the franchisee must bear for wages, travel, living expenses, and uniforms for the trainees during the training period. The franchisee is responsible for all of these expenses.
Furthermore, Carvel may also require existing managers or employees to attend the Management Training Program if operational or performance issues are identified at the Shoppe. In such cases, the franchisee will also be responsible for paying the $250 per trainee per day fee for each subsequent trainee attending the program. This highlights the importance of ongoing training and development to maintain Carvel's standards and address any performance concerns that may arise during the franchise term.
