What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Minnesota franchisees are entitled to specific protections under Minnesota law regarding franchise termination and non-renewal. Carvel must provide a franchisee in Minnesota with at least 180 days' notice if they decide not to renew the Franchise Agreement, giving the franchisee time to prepare for the end of the agreement.

This requirement is subject to certain exceptions as defined under Minn. Stat. § 80C.14 (subds. 3 and 5). Additionally, Minnesota law mandates that Carvel provide a 90-day notice period should they decide to terminate the agreement, along with a 60-day period for the franchisee to address and resolve any issues that led to the termination notice.

These regulations ensure that Carvel franchisees in Minnesota receive adequate warning and opportunity to address concerns before their franchise agreement is terminated or not renewed, offering a degree of security and protection under state law.
