What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the fee for the Management Training Program for an Express Shoppe is $1,000, but only for the third or subsequent Shoppes operated by you or your affiliates. This fee is charged if Carvel provides the Management Training Program. For the first two Shoppes, including those owned by affiliates, there is no charge for the Management Training Program for Required Trainees.

If a franchisee elects to bring additional trainees, other than the Required Trainees, to the Management Training Program, or if the Required Trainees are trained in separate sessions, or if any of the Required Trainees fail to successfully complete the Management Training Program and re-enroll in the program or are replaced with new trainees that enroll in the program, the franchisee must pay Carvel a reasonable training fee that they designate, which is currently $250 per trainee per day.

It's important to note that franchisees are responsible for all wages, travel, and living expenses, including transportation, meals, and lodging, for themselves and their trainees during the training program. Franchisees must also purchase uniforms for their trainees to wear during training. Carvel may also conduct additional training sessions, conferences, or conventions, for which they may charge a fee typically ranging from $0 to $2,500 to cover their costs.
