What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Carvel Franchise Disclosure Document, Carvel may require franchisees to purchase or license a training platform and any necessary equipment from Carvel, its affiliates, or approved suppliers to access training materials. Carvel may also require franchisees to pay a license fee for the training platform or learning management system. This fee is subject to an annual increase, which will not exceed the Allowed Adjustment.

This means that a new Carvel franchisee might need to budget for the costs of a training platform and related equipment to properly train themselves and their staff. The specific costs will depend on the platform Carvel requires and the equipment necessary to use it. It is important to note that these costs are in addition to other training expenses, such as travel, food, lodging, compensation, and uniforms for trainees.

Carvel also retains the right to modify its training programs at any time, including the content, format, and location of training. Franchisees are responsible for all expenses incurred for any training programs. If a franchisee or their trainees fail to cancel scheduled training without at least 14 days' prior notice or are not prepared to participate successfully, Carvel may charge the franchisee the cost of the originally scheduled training, including fees and travel expenses incurred by Carvel's representatives. The franchisee may also be required to pay the training fee again for any rescheduled training.
