What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Subsequent Trainees are defined as any Primary Contact or Managers (including any Directors of Operations) hired or appointed after the Carvel Shoppe opens, as well as any other persons Carvel designates. These individuals must attend and successfully complete the Management Training Program (or Primary Contact Training, if applicable) before they can be involved in the operation of the Carvel Shoppe.
Carvel may also require employees transferring from another Carvel Shoppe to complete the Management Training Program again. Additionally, Carvel may require franchisees to send additional managers or employees to the Management Training Program if operational or performance issues are identified at the Shoppe.
For each Subsequent Trainee attending the Management Training Program conducted by Carvel, the franchisee must pay a training fee. As of the FDD date, this fee is $250 per trainee per day. This cost is in addition to the wages, travel, living expenses, and uniform costs that the franchisee must also cover for each trainee.
This policy ensures that all personnel involved in the operation of a Carvel franchise are properly trained and meet Carvel's standards, regardless of when they join the team. It also allows Carvel to address performance issues by requiring additional training for specific personnel when necessary.
