What is a Certified Training Location for Carvel?

According to Carvel's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a Certified Training Location is a Carvel Shoppe authorized to conduct the Management Training Program. To qualify as a Certified Training Location, a Shoppe must meet specific criteria set by Carvel.

Specifically, the Shoppe must achieve compliance scores that Carvel specifies, fully comply with Carvel's current standards, and employ at least one Manager in addition to a Certified Training Manager. The Certified Training Manager must have completed the Management Training Program at least six months before applying for certification, maintain specific food safety programs, and attend any required additional training. Carvel retains the discretion to grant, withhold, or revoke certification for a Certified Training Location or Manager, and may change the minimum requirements for certification at any time.

If a Carvel franchisee's Shoppe is certified as a Certified Training Location and has a Certified Training Manager, that manager is authorized to provide the Management Training Program at that location, following Carvel's standards. However, if certification is withheld or revoked, Carvel may require the franchisee's trainees to attend the Management Training Program at another designated location, potentially incurring additional training fees. This certification process ensures that training is conducted to Carvel's standards, whether at the corporate headquarters, online, or at a franchisee-owned location.
