What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Carls Jr. Franchise Disclosure Document, to be eligible for franchise renewal, a franchisee must have operated their restaurant, and all other Carls Jr. franchised restaurants they own, in accordance with the applicable franchise agreements and System Standards. These System Standards are detailed in the Operations Procedures Manual (OPM) or other communications from Carls Jr., and may be revised over time.
Compliance with these standards is determined by Carls Jr. at its sole discretion. This means Carls Jr. has the authority to decide whether a franchisee has met the required standards for renewal. This evaluation covers all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring consistency and adherence to the Carls Jr. brand standards across all locations.
For a prospective franchisee, this highlights the importance of diligently following all operational guidelines and maintaining consistent performance across all franchised locations. Failure to adhere to these standards could jeopardize the opportunity to renew the franchise agreement, impacting the long-term viability of the business. Franchisees should maintain open communication with Carls Jr. and promptly address any identified deficiencies to ensure compliance and eligibility for renewal.
