What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Carls Jr. Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee may be reimbursed for grand opening advertising expenditures under specific conditions. Carls Jr. will reimburse up to $5,000 for grand opening advertising expenses.

To qualify for this reimbursement, the advertising expenditures must be pre-approved by Carls Jr. and comply with the guidelines outlined in the relevant section of the Franchise Agreement. The grand opening advertising must occur during a specific period, starting 30 days before the restaurant's opening and continuing for 90 days after the opening. This designated time frame is referred to as the "Grand Opening Period."

To claim the reimbursement, the franchisee must submit written proof of the grand opening advertising and associated expenses to Carls Jr. This documentation must be submitted no later than 60 days after the end of the Grand Opening Period. Failure to obtain pre-approval for the advertising, non-compliance with guidelines, or late submission of documentation could result in denial of reimbursement.
