What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Carls Jr. Franchise Disclosure Document, Carl Karcher Enterprises, Inc. (CKE) began offering franchises for Carls Jr. Restaurants in 1984. This information is relevant for prospective franchisees as it provides a historical context of the franchise system. It shows that the Carls Jr. brand has been franchising for a significant period, indicating an established system. The transition from CKE to CJR in 2013, as mentioned elsewhere in the FDD, marks a change in the franchisor entity but not necessarily a change in the fundamental franchise operations.

It is important to note that Carl Karcher Enterprises, Inc. is referred to as the predecessor to the current franchisor, Carl's Jr. Restaurants LLC (CJR). Understanding the history of the franchise system can help potential franchisees assess the stability and experience of the brand. The fact that CKE also offered dual-concept franchises in the past may be of interest to those considering similar options today, although the current FDD focuses on Travel Center and Gas and Convenience Locations.
