What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Carls Jr. Franchise Disclosure Document, CKR and/or the Franchisor bears the cost of data retrieval from the franchisee's computers. CKR has the right to retrieve data, customer information, and other information from the franchisee's computers as they deem appropriate. This includes electronically polling daily sales, computer information, and other data from the franchised restaurants.
This means that Carls Jr. franchisees will not be directly charged for the actual process of CKR accessing and retrieving data from their systems. However, franchisees are responsible for maintaining their computer systems, backing up data daily, and complying with operational requirements as outlined in their Franchise Agreement and manuals. Franchisees also bear the cost of installing and maintaining dedicated data lines and required equipment to facilitate data access.
While CKR covers the direct cost of data retrieval, franchisees should be aware of other technology-related expenses. These include software support fees, initial training for software, and the costs associated with maintaining required equipment and data lines. Understanding these costs is crucial for assessing the overall financial investment required to operate a Carls Jr. franchise.
