What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Carls's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee can conduct grand opening advertising during a specific period to be eligible for reimbursement. This period, referred to as the "Grand Opening Period," starts 30 days before the scheduled opening of the franchised restaurant and continues for 90 days after the restaurant first opens for business.
Carls will reimburse franchisees up to $5,000 for grand opening advertising expenses incurred during this Grand Opening Period. However, this reimbursement is subject to several conditions. First, the advertising expenditures must be pre-approved by Carls. Second, the advertising must comply with the requirements outlined in the Franchise Agreement for local advertising. Finally, the franchisee must provide written proof of the advertising and its costs to Carls no later than 90 days after the restaurant's opening.
This policy provides a financial incentive for new Carls franchisees to promote their restaurant's opening effectively. However, franchisees must carefully adhere to Carls's guidelines and deadlines to ensure they receive the maximum reimbursement possible. Failing to obtain pre-approval or missing the deadline for submitting proof of advertising costs could result in the loss of reimbursement funds.
