Carls Franchise · 2024 FDD

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

Within 30 days after receipt of these documents, and any information which CJR may reasonably require, we will advise you in writing whether we have accepted a particular site; however, CJR has no obligation to review any development proposal if you or your affiliates are not in full compliance with all agreements with CJR or its affiliates. If we do not respond within that time period, we will be deemed not to have accepted the site.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Carls's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, CJR will advise a prospective franchisee in writing whether it has accepted a particular site within 30 days of receiving all required documents. However, CJR has no obligation to review any development proposal if the franchisee or its affiliates are not in full compliance with all agreements with CJR or its affiliates. If CJR does not respond within that 30-day time period, the site will be deemed not to have been accepted.

This 30-day review period is a standard practice in the franchise industry, allowing the franchisor adequate time to assess the suitability of a proposed location. The stipulation that the franchisee must be in full compliance with all agreements highlights the importance of maintaining good standing with Carls to ensure timely processing of site approvals.

For a prospective Carls franchisee, this means that selecting a suitable location and submitting all required documentation promptly is crucial. Furthermore, maintaining compliance with all existing agreements with Carls is essential to avoid delays in the site approval process. The franchisee should also be aware that if they do not receive a response from Carls within 30 days, the site is automatically rejected, requiring them to restart the site selection process.
