What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Carls's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Labor Utilization training is part of the Franchise Management Training Program (FMTP). This training takes place at a 'Designated Training Facility' and involves 8 hours of on-the-job training.
The FMTP program is provided at no charge for the Operating Principal, General Manager, and six Shift Leaders, provided the training occurs within two years of signing the Franchise Agreement. Carls designates the times and places for this training. The FMTP includes in-restaurant training at a Carl's Jr. Restaurant designated by Carls, classroom instruction and training at a designated training facility in Anaheim, CA or Franklin, TN, and online training.
Carls also provides electronic access to Star University, a web-based learning management system, for a fee of $14 per fiscal period. While Star University is a required training tool, the Labor Utilization training specifically occurs at a Designated Training Facility. Franchisees are responsible for all travel, living, and other expenses incurred while attending the training. Carls reserves the right to dismiss anyone from the FMTP who they believe will not perform acceptably, requiring the franchisee to provide a suitable replacement within one month.
