What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Carls's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must use computerized cash and data capture and retrieval systems that meet Carls's specifications. Franchisees are required to record all sales electronically or on tape.
Carls has the right to access data and information from the franchisee's computer systems, including polling daily sales, menu mix, and other data. Franchisees must also procure and install data processing equipment, computer hardware and software, dedicated telephone and power lines, high-speed internet connections, modems, and printers as specified in the Operations and Procedures Manual (OPM).
Furthermore, franchisees must use Carls's proprietary software program, system documentation manuals, and other proprietary materials. They may also be required to execute Carls's standard software license agreement. Franchisees are responsible for maintaining PCI compliance and may need to upgrade their technology to meet these standards. Carls may also designate a vendor to ensure data security and compliance.
