l health department or other regulatory requirements; and (e) meet any other requirements that we may specify from time to time. We may, in our sole discretion, revoke certification for a Certified Franchisee Training Restaurant or a Certified Franchisee Management Trainer. If we revoke certification, we may require your trainees to attend the FMTP at another location that we designate.
Conventions
We may, from time to time, conduct conferences, conventions, programs, webinars, teleconferences, or training sessions on any matters related to the System. Your Operating Principal or your General Manager and other personnel we designate must attend each such meeting, program, or session that we require. We may charge you a reasonable fee to attend any such meeting, program, or session. We may require you to purchase or license from us, our affiliates, or third-party suppliers any training platform and equipment necessary to use or access the training materials.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Carls's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Operating Principal or General Manager, along with other designated personnel, are required to attend any mandatory meetings, programs, or sessions that Carls requires. Carls may conduct these events in various formats, including conferences, conventions, programs, webinars, teleconferences, or training sessions, covering any matters related to the Carls system.
Carls also reserves the right to charge a reasonable fee for attendance at these mandatory events. Furthermore, franchisees may be required to purchase or license training platforms and equipment from Carls, its affiliates, or third-party suppliers to access the training materials.
Additionally, if a franchisee has not opened a new Carls restaurant in the last two years or does not currently operate a franchised restaurant, the Operating Principal must attend another franchisee's or a company-owned new restaurant opening. This attendance must occur no more than 12 months before the franchisee's own restaurant is scheduled to open. These requirements ensure that franchisees and their key personnel stay informed about the latest developments and standards within the Carls system.
