What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Carls's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere to all system specifications, recipes, standards, and operating procedures, regardless of whether they are detailed in the Operations Procedures Manual (OPM) or communicated through other written means. This encompasses various aspects of the restaurant's operation, including the quality and preparation of food and beverages, sales and marketing strategies, restaurant layout and decor, employee appearance, and cleanliness standards.

Carls requires franchisees to comply with mandatory specifications, standards, and operating procedures, including any upgraded or additional equipment, that Carls prescribes from time to time in the OPM or otherwise communicates to the franchisee in writing. These written communications hold the same weight as if they were fully detailed within the franchise agreement itself.

This requirement ensures uniformity and consistency across all Carls locations, maintaining brand standards and customer expectations. For a prospective franchisee, this means being prepared to implement changes and updates to the restaurant's operations as directed by Carls, even if those changes are not yet formally documented in the OPM. It is crucial to stay informed of all communications from Carls and to promptly implement any required changes to remain compliant with the franchise agreement.
