What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Caring Transitions' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, all client data is solely owned by the franchisor, C.T. Franchising Systems, Inc. The franchisor retains the right to access client data from the Communication and Information System at any time. This means that while a franchisee interacts directly with clients and gathers information, the ownership of that data resides with Caring Transitions.

This has several implications for a prospective franchisee. First, upon the expiration or termination of the franchise agreement, Caring Transitions may notify the franchisee's clients and authorize another franchisee or third party to provide services to them, without any compensation to the former franchisee. This underscores that the client relationship, in terms of data ownership and future service provision, is controlled by the franchisor.

Furthermore, the franchisee acknowledges that they acquire no rights to their clients or client list, other than those specifically granted under the Franchise Agreement. This is a fairly common practice in franchising, where the brand and system are considered the primary assets, and client ownership typically remains with the franchisor to ensure consistency and brand integrity across the network. A prospective franchisee should carefully consider this aspect, as it affects the long-term value and potential resale value of their Caring Transitions franchise.
