What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Caring Transitions' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, any data collected or provided by the franchisee, downloaded from the franchisee's Communication and Information System, or otherwise collected from the franchisee by Caring Transitions is owned exclusively by Caring Transitions. Caring Transitions has the right to use this data in any manner without providing compensation to the franchisee.
The franchisee is licensed to use this data solely for the purpose of operating their franchised business. This license automatically expires when the franchise agreement terminates or expires, without any additional notice or action required from Caring Transitions.
This arrangement means that while franchisees contribute to the data pool, they have limited rights to leverage it beyond their day-to-day operations. A prospective franchisee should consider the implications of this data ownership structure, especially if they have ideas about using the data for more extensive marketing or business development purposes. It is fairly common practice in franchising for the franchisor to maintain control over customer data to ensure consistency and protect the brand.
