What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Caring Transitions' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, upon termination or expiration of the franchise agreement, a franchisee must immediately discontinue all Internet advertising that contains any of the Caring Transitions' marks or any confusingly similar variations. The specific online platforms that must be discontinued include Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Service Magic, and Google, as well as any pay-per-click programs.
This obligation is part of a broader requirement to cease operating the franchised business and representing oneself as a current or former Caring Transitions franchisee. The franchisee must also stop using any equipment, materials, or confidential methods associated with the Caring Transitions system. This includes removing Caring Transitions' marks and associated telephone numbers from vehicles used in the business.
For a prospective franchisee, this means that upon exiting the Caring Transitions system, they lose all rights to use the brand's established online presence and must rebuild their own advertising and marketing channels. This is a standard practice in franchising, as the brand's online identity and goodwill are proprietary assets of the franchisor. The franchisee should be prepared to invest in new branding and marketing efforts to establish a separate business identity after the franchise agreement ends.
