Caring_Senior_Service Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

At our request, you must update and/or upgrade your computer system to include the components we require. We may also require you to completely replace your computer system. Any updates, upgrades or replacements must be done at your expense. There are no limitations in the Franchise Agreement on either our ability to require these updates, upgrades or replacements, or on their cost to you. Neither we nor any affiliate of ours are required to provide you with any computer maintenance, updates and/or upgrades, except that currently we provide you with maintenance, updates and upgrades to the Tendio™ software.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Caring Senior Service's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees may be required to update or replace their computer systems at their own expense. Caring Senior Service retains the right to request updates, upgrades, or complete replacements of the computer system. The FDD states that there are no limitations within the Franchise Agreement regarding Caring Senior Service's ability to mandate these changes or the associated costs for the franchisee.

Caring Senior Service specifies that franchisees must use the phone and computer systems that they approve. Each location is required to have three VOIP phones and one electronic fax line, with the hardware supplied by Caring Senior Service and services provided by Twilio, Inc. The current cost for these phone, fax, and virtual lines is approximately $150 per month, included in the Technology Fee. Additionally, each computer must have a high-speed internet connection, and currently, franchisees need four Windows-compatible computers, high-speed internet with a dedicated IP address, a multifunction printer, Tendio™ software, a router, and a WiFi access point. The cost of the computer and phone systems is currently $3,685.

Caring Senior Service provides the Tendio™ software at no additional charge but requires franchisees to pay a monthly Technology Fee, which is currently $1,045 per month. This fee also covers access to Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as a license for QuickBooks Online. While Caring Senior Service does not mandate an on-site maintenance contract for the computer system, they also cannot estimate the potential costs of such a contract, as it depends on the provider's rates and the contract terms. If franchisees opt to use other computer systems or equipment, they must pay an additional monthly service fee for connection to the network, contracted directly with Caring Senior Service's vendor.

Given these requirements, prospective franchisees should carefully consider the potential ongoing technology expenses and the implications of mandatory system updates or replacements. It is important to factor these costs into the overall investment and operational budget for a Caring Senior Service franchise.
