What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Caring Senior Service Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee is generally not refundable. The standard initial franchise fee is $49,000, and this fee is deemed fully earned by Caring Senior Service upon the execution of the Franchise Agreement. This means that once the agreement is signed, the franchisee is not entitled to a refund of the initial franchise fee.
This non-refundable policy is a fairly standard practice in the franchise industry, as the franchisor incurs costs in evaluating the franchisee, providing initial training, and setting up the franchisee within the Caring Senior Service system. However, prospective franchisees should be aware of this policy and carefully consider their decision before signing the Franchise Agreement, as they will not be able to recover the initial fee if they later decide not to proceed with the franchise.
An exception to the non-refundability of the initial franchise fee exists in the state of Minnesota. The FDD states that Minnesota has imposed a financial condition where the initial fee is deferred until the first franchise location is open for business. This provides additional protection to franchisees in Minnesota, as they do not have to pay the initial fee until they are actually up and running.
