What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the standards and specifications for purchases are primarily detailed in Item 8, which covers restrictions on sources of products and services. This item outlines the requirements for maintaining uniform quality and image, specifying that franchisees must adhere to Card My Yard's standards for equipment, inventory, techniques, and procedures. Franchisees are obligated to purchase certain products and services from approved or designated suppliers.
The FDD specifies that the operations manual contains the standards and specifications relating to the purchase of supplies, materials, fixtures, furnishings, equipment, computer systems, and other products. These standards and specifications are communicated through written communications to franchisees and approved suppliers and are updated periodically in the operations manual, which is provided in electronic format.
Item 8 also describes the process for requesting approval of alternative suppliers if a franchisee wishes to purchase from a non-approved source. Card My Yard has the right to inspect the supplier's facilities and test samples, with the franchisee bearing the costs of this approval process. The initial required purchases are estimated to be 60% to 80% of the total initial purchases, while ongoing required purchases are estimated at 20% to 30% of total annual purchases.
