What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the transfer fee is the greater of $3,000 or 5% of the sale/transfer price. This fee is due with the transfer application.
However, there is an exception: if an individual franchisee transfers all rights and obligations to an entity wholly owned by them, the transfer fee is limited to Card My Yard's out-of-pocket costs and expenses, including legal and accounting fees.
The transfer fee requirement applies to any transfer of interest in the franchisee entity, the Franchise Agreement (including zip codes or territorial rights), or the assets of the franchised business. This means a franchisee needs to pay a transfer fee for various types of ownership changes or sales related to the Card My Yard business.
