What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee wishes to operate their Card My Yard business from a location that is not their primary residence, they must submit a description of the site, evidence that the site satisfies Card My Yard's site selection guidelines, and a final, complete copy of the lease or contract of sale for the site. The lease must include a rider in the form attached as Exhibit F.

The document explicitly states that the lease or contract for sale may not be signed by the franchisee unless it includes a rider in the specified form and is submitted to, and approved by, Card My Yard in advance. Card My Yard has fifteen days after receiving all required site information to accept or reject the proposed site.

No site may be used for a Card My Yard business unless it is first accepted in writing by Card My Yard, and the franchisee shall not make any binding commitment with respect to a site unless the site is first accepted in writing by Card My Yard. This means a franchisee cannot sign a lease or contract of sale before Card My Yard approves the site. This protects both the franchisee and Card My Yard by ensuring the location meets the brand's standards and is suitable for business operations.
