What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Card My Yard can require franchisees to obtain additional insurance coverage beyond the minimums specified in the agreement. Specifically, Card My Yard can mandate other insurance types and coverage levels deemed necessary. Additionally, the landlord of the Card My Yard business premises or the state or locality in which the business operates may also impose insurance requirements.
The initial insurance requirements include comprehensive general liability insurance with specific coverage amounts such as $1,000,000 per occurrence, $2,000,000 general aggregate, $2,000,000 products/completed operations aggregate, and $1,000,000 personal and advertising injury. Franchisees must also maintain automobile insurance with a limit of not less than $500,000 per accident, covering owned, hired, and non-owned automobiles. If applicable, franchisees must also maintain workers' compensation insurance with statutory limits and employer's liability coverage of $1,000,000 per accident, $1,000,000 disease policy limit, and $1,000,000 disease per employee.
This means that a Card My Yard franchisee should be prepared to potentially incur additional insurance costs beyond what is initially outlined. It is important to maintain open communication with Card My Yard and the insurance provider to ensure full compliance with all insurance requirements throughout the franchise term. Franchisees can elect to have reasonable deductibles in connection with the coverage required. All insurance policies must be purchased from an insurance company with an A.M. Best rating of A or better, must include a one-year tail following the termination, expiration or transfer of the Franchise Agreement, and must name Card My Yard as a co-insured.
