What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must comply with all applicable laws and regulations. This includes securing all appropriate governmental approvals for their Card My Yard business. Franchisees are also responsible for obtaining all zoning classifications and clearances required by laws, ordinances, regulations, or restrictive covenants relating to the construction and operation of the business. They must also conform the premises as needed to comply with any local ordinances and building codes, all at their own expense.

Card My Yard franchisees must obtain all necessary approvals, clearances, permits, licenses, and certifications required for the lawful construction, remodeling, and operation of their business before starting construction. They must also certify in writing to Card My Yard that they have obtained these and that the required insurance coverage is in full force and effect. At Card My Yard's request, franchisees must provide copies of all such approvals, clearances, permits, licenses, and certifications.

Furthermore, franchisees must comply with all local, state, and federal laws applicable to their operations, including those related to health, sanitation, smoking, EEOC, OSHA, discrimination, employment, and sexual harassment. They must also ensure readily accessible accommodations for disabled people, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Additionally, franchisees must comply with all payment card infrastructure (PCI) industry and government security standards designed to protect cardholder data. Card My Yard recommends that franchisees consult with legal counsel or other professional advisors to understand these laws before purchasing a franchise, as it is the franchisee's sole responsibility to investigate and comply with all regulations and licensing requirements imposed by their state and local government authorities.
