What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Principal Owner can also serve as the General Manager for a Card My Yard business. However, the Principal Owner is restricted from being the General Manager for more than one Card My Yard business simultaneously.

The FDD stipulates that before the Opening Date, a General Manager must be designated and retained at all times to supervise the Card My Yard business's operations. This General Manager must meet Card My Yard's qualifications. While the Principal Owner can fulfill this role, the franchisee can also choose someone other than the Principal Owner to be the General Manager, subject to Card My Yard's written consent.

Even if a General Manager is appointed, the Principal Owner is not relieved of their supervisory responsibilities and remains fully responsible for the General Manager's performance. Each Card My Yard business is required to have a different General Manager, reinforcing the restriction on a Principal Owner acting as the General Manager for multiple locations.
