When is the initial franchise fee for Card My Yard payable?

According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee of $8,500 is due upon signing the Franchise Agreement. This fee must be paid in one lump sum. Once Card My Yard receives the payment, it is considered fully earned and nonrefundable. The FDD specifies that this fee is imposed uniformly on all franchisees.

It is important to note that while the initial franchise fee is generally nonrefundable, there are limited circumstances where a portion may be returned. If a franchisee encounters an unforeseen health or personal issue that prevents them from operating the Card My Yard business before it begins, Card My Yard may allow the franchisee to terminate the Franchise Agreement. This termination requires a mutual written agreement and the payment of a termination fee of $1,000, plus any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by Card My Yard.

Another exception exists if the franchisee fails to successfully complete Card My Yard's initial training program within 60 days of signing the franchise agreement. In this case, Card My Yard may terminate the agreement and retain 50% of the initial franchise fee, while the other 50% will be returned to the franchisee. Prospective franchisees should carefully consider these conditions and ensure they are prepared to meet the training requirements and operational demands of the Card My Yard business before signing the Franchise Agreement and paying the initial fee.
