What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee, along with their Principal Owner, retains full responsibility for the General Manager's performance. This means that even if a General Manager is appointed and approved to oversee the daily operations, the franchisee cannot delegate away their accountability for how the business is run.
This requirement ensures that the franchisee remains actively involved in the business, even when a General Manager is in place. The Principal Owner's supervisory responsibilities are not diminished by the appointment of a General Manager. This dual oversight structure is designed to maintain quality control and adherence to Card My Yard standards.
For a prospective Card My Yard franchisee, this means that selecting a capable and reliable General Manager is crucial, but it's equally important to maintain active oversight of the business. The franchisee should establish clear expectations, provide ongoing training and support, and regularly monitor the General Manager's performance to ensure that the business operates effectively and in compliance with Card My Yard's standards. Failure to adequately supervise the General Manager can lead to operational issues and potential breaches of the franchise agreement, for which the franchisee will ultimately be held responsible.
