What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Card My Yard's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, for any Card My Yard franchise purchased in Washington, the arbitration or mediation site will be in the state of Washington. However, the location can also be a place mutually agreed upon at the time of the arbitration or mediation. The arbitrator or mediator can also determine the location at the time of arbitration or mediation.

This means that if a dispute arises and needs to be settled through arbitration or mediation, a Card My Yard franchisee in Washington has some assurance that the proceedings will likely occur within the state. This can save on travel costs and make it easier to participate in the process.

It is important to note that the final location could depend on the agreement of both parties or the decision of the arbitrator or mediator, providing some flexibility but also uncertainty. Additionally, if litigation is not precluded by the franchise agreement, the franchisee has the option to bring an action or proceeding related to the sale of franchises or a violation of the Washington Franchise Investment Protection Act in Washington.
