What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Carbones Pizzeria Franchise Disclosure Document, updating the restaurant to meet the franchisor's current requirements is indeed a condition for franchise renewal. Specifically, to renew the franchise agreement for an additional ten-year period, the franchisee must update their restaurant to meet all of Carbones Pizzeria's then-current requirements.
In addition to updating the restaurant, the franchisee must also fulfill other conditions to be eligible for renewal. These include not being in violation of any terms of the existing franchise agreement, executing the then-current form of the franchise agreement, and paying a renewal fee of $1,500. The franchisee must also provide written notice of their intent to renew the franchise, doing so not less than 180 days and not more than 365 days before the expiration of the initial ten-year term.
This requirement ensures that all Carbones Pizzeria locations maintain a consistent brand image and meet current operational standards. For a prospective franchisee, this means they should be prepared to invest in updates and renovations to their restaurant at the time of renewal to align with the franchisor's latest standards. Failing to meet these requirements could result in the franchisee not being able to renew their franchise agreement.
