What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Carbones Pizzeria Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee must maintain POS system sales data, or previous continuous cash register tapes, for each week and preserve it for at least five years. This data must be kept in a condition that allows Carbones Pizzeria or its representatives to easily identify the week and year the data relates to. This requirement ensures that during any examination of the franchisee's records, the franchisor can readily access and understand the sales data for verification and auditing purposes.
This requirement is fairly standard in franchising, as franchisors need accurate sales data to calculate royalties, assess the financial health of the franchise, and ensure compliance with the franchise agreement. The five-year retention period aligns with typical accounting and legal requirements for record-keeping.
The franchisee's responsibility to maintain easily identifiable records places an emphasis on organized record-keeping practices. A prospective Carbones Pizzeria franchisee should ensure they have a system in place, whether electronic or physical, that allows for easy retrieval and identification of sales data by week and year to comply with Carbones Pizzeria's requirements.
