What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Caption By Hyatt's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee may not make material changes to the plans set forth in the PIP (Property Improvement Plan) without prior written consent from Hyatt Franchising, L.L.C. The PIP outlines the renovation requirements for converting an existing hotel from another brand to a Caption By Hyatt hotel.

Material changes include alterations to structural or life safety equipment or systems, the number and/or type of guest rooms or common areas, or any architectural features. The franchisor states that consent will not be unreasonably withheld.

This requirement ensures that all Caption By Hyatt hotels meet the brand's standards and maintain a consistent image. For a prospective franchisee, this means that any desired changes to the PIP must be submitted to Caption By Hyatt for approval, and any changes made without approval would be a breach of the franchise agreement.
