What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Canopy Lawn Care Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee is generally non-refundable. However, there is one specific condition under which a portion of it may be returned to the franchisee.

The initial franchise fee will be non-refundable unless Canopy Lawn Care terminates the Franchise Agreement because the franchisee fails to obtain the necessary permits and licenses required by state and local governments for their territory within 6 months, despite using commercially reasonable efforts. The determination of whether the franchisee used commercially reasonable efforts is at Canopy Lawn Care's sole discretion.

If Canopy Lawn Care terminates the agreement under these specific circumstances, the franchisee will receive a refund of 50% of the initial franchise fee. This refund will be issued within 30 days of Canopy Lawn Care providing written notice of termination to the franchisee.

This condition is important for prospective Canopy Lawn Care franchisees to understand, as it outlines a specific scenario where a portion of their initial investment may be recouped. It also highlights the importance of diligently pursuing the necessary permits and licenses and the franchisor's discretion in determining whether sufficient effort has been made.
