What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Canopy Lawn Care's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee is generally not refundable, but there is one specific circumstance where a portion of it may be returned. The standard initial franchise fee is $49,500 for a territory with less than 45,000 single-family dwelling units.

Specifically, Canopy Lawn Care may refund 50% of the initial franchise fee if the franchisee is unable to obtain all necessary licenses and permits to operate the business within 6 months of signing the Franchise Agreement. This refund is contingent on the franchisee demonstrating, to Canopy Lawn Care's satisfaction, that they have made commercially reasonable efforts to secure these licenses and permits.

The refund will be issued within 30 days after Canopy Lawn Care provides notice of termination. It's important to note that this is the only circumstance under which a refund of the initial franchise fee is explicitly mentioned, and Canopy Lawn Care states that there are no refunds of these fees under any other circumstances.
