What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Canopy Lawn Care's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, as a lessee, the franchisee agrees to pay interest charges to the lessor in connection with acquiring a vehicle. These charges apply for the period between when the lessor pays to acquire the vehicle and when the vehicle is delivered to the franchisee.
The interest charges will be specifically included in each Schedule provided to the franchisee. Furthermore, if the vehicle is delivered on any day other than the first day of the month, the monthly rental payments will commence on the first day of the subsequent month. In addition to the regular monthly rental payments, the franchisee will also be responsible for paying a pro-rated rental charge, covering the number of days between the delivery date and the first monthly rental payment date.
This arrangement ensures that the lessor is compensated for the time value of money during the period they own the vehicle before it is in the franchisee's possession. The pro-rated rental charge addresses any partial month usage at the beginning of the lease term, aligning payment with the actual usage period. Franchisees should carefully review the Schedules to understand the specific interest charges and payment terms associated with each vehicle.
