What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 FDD, Canopy Lawn Care will make available to franchisees all advertising and promotion materials for the business that are used by the franchisor and other Canopy Lawn Care franchisees. However, franchisees cannot develop advertising materials for use in the business without the franchisor's approval. If Canopy Lawn Care approves advertising materials prepared by the franchisee, the franchisor may make those materials available to other franchisees. The franchisee is responsible for paying the duplication costs of any advertising or promotion material provided by Canopy Lawn Care.
These stipulations are fairly standard in franchising, as franchisors want to maintain brand consistency across all franchise locations. By providing approved advertising materials and retaining approval rights over franchisee-created materials, Canopy Lawn Care can ensure that all marketing efforts align with the brand's overall image and messaging.
It is important for prospective franchisees to understand that while they have access to advertising materials, they also bear the cost of duplicating these materials. Furthermore, while franchisees can create their own advertising, they must obtain approval from Canopy Lawn Care, and there is no guarantee of approval. Franchisees should inquire about the types of advertising materials typically available, the approval process for new materials, and the estimated costs for duplication to fully understand their marketing responsibilities and options.
