If Canopy Lawn Care cannot agree on a warehouse site, what is the franchisee required to do?

According to Canopy Lawn Care's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are encouraged to start their Lawn Care Business from a home office, but they are not prohibited from starting in a flexible warehouse space. The franchisee must get approval from Canopy Lawn Care for their flexible warehouse space and lease, if applicable. Canopy Lawn Care will consider factors such as location, neighborhood, traffic patterns, population size, available parking, and lease terms when approving sites. The franchisee is responsible for selecting and outfitting their own location according to Canopy Lawn Care's specifications and standards. Canopy Lawn Care is not required to help the franchisee locate a site for the warehouse, home office, or self-storage facility or in negotiating a lease.

Canopy Lawn Care generally accepts or rejects a site for the warehouse within 15 to 30 days of receiving the request. If Canopy Lawn Care does not accept a proposed site within 30 days via written notice, the site is considered not accepted. If Canopy Lawn Care and the franchisee cannot agree on a warehouse site, the franchisee must operate from a home office until they can identify a site that Canopy Lawn Care accepts.

This requirement to operate from a home office if a warehouse site is not approved could impact a franchisee's initial investment and operational costs. Operating from a home office might limit the scale of operations initially, as it may restrict storage and parking for vehicles and equipment. The franchisee bears the risk of finding a suitable location that meets Canopy Lawn Care's approval, which could potentially delay the opening or expansion of the business.
