What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Canopy Lawn Care's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, guidelines regarding the proper use of Canopy Lawn Care's trademarks are found in the Operations Manual. These guidelines will be updated periodically at Canopy Lawn Care's discretion. Franchisees are required to adhere to these guidelines when using Canopy Lawn Care's marks.
The FDD specifies that franchisees cannot use the trademarks alone or with modifications as part of a business name or on the internet, including in URLs or domain names. Prior written approval from Canopy Lawn Care is required for the franchisee's company name before filing any registration documents. The franchisee must also indicate, as required in the Franchise Agreement and specified in the Operations Manual, that they are an independent operator.
These trademark usage rules are typical in franchising, as franchisors need to protect their brand identity and ensure consistent representation across all franchise locations. The Operations Manual serves as a central resource for franchisees to understand and comply with these requirements, and it is important for prospective franchisees to carefully review this manual and any updates to it to avoid trademark infringement issues.
